Cambridge's Focus on CARES/Kindness

Kindness Challenge

​Starting with the first day of Week of Respect, Cambridge students will be challenged to complete an act of kindness through out the day.  This will continue for 30 school days.  Please ask your student if they have completed any acts of kindness.  The challenges are located on the bulletin board in the K/1 hallway, posted on the main entrance door, and announced each morning.
Kindness Challenges:
  1. Smile at everyone you walk past today.
  2. Introduce yourself to two new people you don’t know at school.
  3. Give as many put ups as you can today.
  4. Ask somebody new to play with you at recess.
  5. Write a kind note to a friend or family member.
  6. Make friends with a student in a different grade.
  7. Learn 3 new things about a classmate.
  8. Read a book with a classmate.
  9. Sit next to someone you don’t know very well at lunch.
  10. Hold the door open for as many people as you can today.
  11. Offer to help a friend today.
  12. Make a card or letter for a school staff member.  This can be a teacher, the bus driver, a member of the office staff, etc.
  13. ​Say please every time you ask for something.
  14. Let someone else go first during a game.
  15. Pick up things off the floor in your classroom, even if they don’t belong
    to you.
  16. Find someone being respectful and let them know you noticed.
  17. Notice someone positive about a friend's work today.
  18. Ask two people how their weekend was.
  19. Thank someone  for being a good friend.
  20. Find someone that did something well and give the a compliment.
  21. Say thank you to everyone who does something nice today.
  22. Walk around at recess and invite someone who is alone to play with you.
  23. Be a very good listener when someone else is talking.
  24. Invite someone new to join you and your friends at the lunch table.
  25. Help clean up someone else's things at lunch.
  26. Ask two people how their day is today.
  27. Cheer for other kids during recess or a gym game.
  28. Let a friend go in front of you in line today.
  29. Give a positive I message when someone does something kind, thoughtful or helpful.
  30. Thank three classmates for one Kind thing they did during the Kindness Challenge.

Students will earn a spot in the Cambridge CARES crew by demonstrating CARES.  Each month will zoom in on one letter. For example January will be Cooperation month.  Staff will look for students who show cooperation and students will be recognized on the bulletin board as part of the CREW!
